Test Background
Aluminum alloy spalling corrosion refers to products rolled from deformed alloys with highly oriented grain structures. They are susceptible to the spalling corrosion of aluminum alloys under the layers to form delaminations, accompanied by delamination from the material body, crack formation, and ultimately leading to complete interlayer separation of the metal. The aluminum alloy exfoliation corrosion test can determine the full immersion accelerated exfoliation corrosion performance of aluminum alloys during the R&D and quality control processes.

Scope of tests
is suitable for rolling semi-finished deformed aluminum alloys, parts produced by conventional casting metallurgy processes and powder metallurgy processes, and aluminum-based composite materials produced by mechanical alloying.
Test method
1. The sample is fully immersed in an aqueous solution with specified composition and temperature. It is suitable for short-cycle tests determined according to alloy type and corrosion solution.
2. Use visual inspection to qualitatively evaluate the relative sensitivity to spalling corrosion, and refer to standard maps or spalling grades to determine the performance level.
