Pigment solvent resistance test

Pigment solvent resistance test-Corrosion Testing-

Test Background

After the pigment comes into contact with the solvent, some pigments are dissolved in the solvent, which will cause staining by the solvent. The solvent resistance of the pigment refers to the resistance of the pigment to dissolution of the solvent and staining by the solvent. The Pigment Solvent Resistance Test determines the solvent resistance of a pigment.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various pigments and provides professional solvent resistance testing services for pigments.

Scope of tests

1. According to the chemical composition of pigments, they can be divided into two categories: inorganic pigments and organic pigments. According to their sources, they can be divided into natural pigments and synthetic pigments.
2. Pigments are classified according to their function, such as anti-rust pigments, magnetic pigments, luminescent pigments, pearlescent pigments, conductive pigments, etc.
3. From the perspective of production and manufacturing, it can be classified into titanium pigments, iron pigments, chromium pigments, lead pigments, zinc pigments, metallic pigments, and organic synthetic pigments.
4. From the perspective of application, it can be classified into paint pigments, ink pigments, plastic pigments, rubber pigments, ceramic and enamel pigments, pharmaceutical and cosmetic pigments, art pigments, etc.

Test method

Fill two cuvettes with the solvent and the clear test solution prepared according to the regulations. Place the cuvettes into the cuvette stand. Under natural lighting facing north, the incident light should be at an angle of 45° to the object being observed.
The observation direction is perpendicular to the surface of the object to be observed, and the staining level of the test solution is visually evaluated against the gray sample card used to evaluate staining.

Test standard:

GB/T 5211.5-2008 Pigment resistance determination method
GB 250 gray sample card for assessing discoloration
GB 251 Gray sample card for stain assessment
GB/T 254 semi-refined paraffin
