Test Background
After the pigment comes into contact with the alkali solution, due to the interaction between the pigment and the alkali, staining of the alkali solution and discoloration of the pigment itself will occur. The alkali resistance of the pigment refers to the ability of the pigment to resist the action of alkali, causing staining of the alkali solution and discoloration of the pigment. The pigment alkali resistance test can measure the pigment's resistance to the effect of alkali causing staining of alkali solutions and discoloration of the pigment.

Scope of tests
1. According to the chemical composition of pigments, they can be divided into two categories: inorganic pigments and organic pigments. According to their sources, they can be divided into natural pigments and synthetic pigments.
2. Pigments are classified according to their function, such as anti-rust pigments, magnetic pigments, luminescent pigments, pearlescent pigments, conductive pigments, etc.
3. From the perspective of production and manufacturing, it can be classified into titanium pigments, iron pigments, chromium pigments, lead pigments, zinc pigments, metallic pigments, and organic synthetic pigments.
4. From the perspective of application, it can be classified into paint pigments, ink pigments, plastic pigments, rubber pigments, ceramic and enamel pigments, pharmaceutical and cosmetic pigments, art pigments, etc.
Test method
1. The alkali resistance of the pigment is expressed by the staining level of the filtrate, the discoloration level of the filter cake, or both the staining level of the filtrate and the discoloration level of the filter cake. The best alkali resistance of the pigment is level 5, and the worst is level 1.
2. The staining degree of the filtrate is between two levels, which is represented by 4 to 5, 3 to 4, 2 to 3, and 1 to 2. The degree of discoloration of the filter cake is between two levels, namely 4/5, 3/4, 2/3, and 1/2.
3. If the staining degree of the filtrate and the discoloration degree of the filter cake are expressed at the same time, it is expressed as A[B], A represents the staining level of the filtrate, and [B] represents the discoloration level of the filter cake.
