Vehicle brake lining immersion resistance test

Vehicle brake lining immersion resistance test-Corrosion Testing-

Test Background

In many cases, automotive brake linings are often soaked in contaminants such as rainwater, salty seawater, and lubricating oil and brake fluid leaking from axle oil seals and wheel brake cylinders. This contamination can cause changes in the mechanical strength or physical shape of the brake lining, thereby reducing its functionality. Immersion resistance refers to the ability to resist changes in thickness or shear strength due to contamination.
The vehicle brake lining immersion resistance test can use a laboratory test method in which the sample is immersed in harmful media, measure the impact of harmful media on the strength and shape of the brake lining, and compare the results with unimpregnated samples.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various vehicle brake linings, and provides professional immersion resistance test services for vehicle brake linings.

Scope of tests

is suitable for drum brake linings and disc brake pads for road vehicles containing organic components.

Test method

1. At each stage of thickness measurement, find the average of the 5-point readings for each sample and record it.
2. The thickness change due to impregnation is expressed by the average thickness difference of each sample before and after impregnation. The average thickness difference of the three samples is the test result value of the product.
3. The change in shear strength due to impregnation is expressed as the difference in the average shear strength of impregnated and unimpregnated samples. It can be expressed as a percentage equivalent to the average value of the unimpregnated sample.
